11 December, 2020 No commentThis guided self-drive off-road expedition is a unique adventure where you will drive your own 4×4 car on off-road tracks in mountains, wadis and deserts for a weekend.
Nights will be spent in the basic but charming Wadi Resort run by friendly staff and with a swimming pool. This is the perfect weekend getaway from Dubai for groups of friends or colleagues and perfectly suited for families with (young) children. It’s a great opportunity to try out off-road exploration.

Self drive from UAE
Mountains, deserts, wadis & beaches
On Friday morning you will drive your own car to the Al Ain Khaim ash Shikla border-crossing with Oman, where you meet our guide.
After crossing the border we drive to the desert, where we will deflate the tires before a session of off-roading and then lunch.
After lunch we drive to the Wadi Sharm Resort, check in and relax. Around 4pm we drive to a nice Wadi where you can climb and swim. At night a BBQ dinner is provided by the hotel.
After a complimentary breakfast and checkout, we drive to the Omani border to pass immigration. We then have lunch at a Wadi and drive to the mountains for a challenging climb, swim, and view of the waterfalls.
Hereafter our guide brings you to the border where the weekend end. You can book an extra night at the hotel if you desire.

**Wadi Pools are naturally occurring pools. There will not always be water present.

You will also need the Orange Oman certificate from your insurance company (see this example). Most insurance companies in UAE provide this certificate free of charge.
You can only join this expedition with your own car from UAE. To participate you require a 4×4 (high gear) car with Oman insurance coverage. Please check with us if your car is suitable
Rental cars from Dubai for driving off-road in Oman are not available.
Through the duration of your trip, you will cover 175 kilometers in 2 days, on rocky terrain, deserts, wadis and steep unpaved mountain paths. The driving is possible regardless of experience, as our guide will help from years of experience driving off-road.
Wadi Sharm Resort is a basic resort in Al Buraimi Governorate across the border from Al Ain, UAE. The resort has a nice swimming pool and basic facilities for food and beverages.
Please bring your own non-alcoholic drinks for during the off-road trip.
Oman is an Islamic country where you can’t buy alcohol in shops without a license Wadi Sharm resort doesn’t sell alcoholic beverages.
Except for the lunch on the first day, breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided by Wadi Sharm Resort. Drinks are not included. Please bring your own lunch and beverages for the lunch on the first day.
We reserve the right to change the itinerary and the mode of transport/cancel the trip, according to weather or road conditions, or circumstances beyond our control. For operating a 4×4 car, drivers must present a valid driver‘s license.
