8 Day Salalah 4×4 Summer Discovery

Lead by an experienced guide who will navigate from the lead car, you and your co-driver will drive in a convoy in a 4×4 Toyota Landcruiser with Rooftent exploring the sensational surroundings of Salalah.

 

Salalah is the only destination in the middle east which is suitable to visit in summer. The combination of the green landscape and a selection of the most beautiful wadis, mountains, beaches and desert ensure a spectacular trip.

 

The car will be equipped with a walkie-talkie, compressor for tire inflation, deflator, tire pressure gauge and towing line.

 

The driving is possible regardless of experience, as our guide will help from years of experience driving off-road. We setup camp each night in a picturesque location and food will be prepared for you daily by our cook. During the expedition there will be several opportunities for driving, hiking and swimming.

Landscape to Camp in

Mountains, desert, wadi and beach

Saturday

Arrival in Salalah and stay 1 night in hotel.

 

Sunday

We start with breakfast & briefing in the hotel after which we start the adventure. We drive to Wadi Avil (45 min) and cross Wadi Avil. We follow the off-road coastal track with amazing views and enjoy lunch on the beach in a small bay. As we continue to Wahiba Shaat and cross this wadi, we follow the main road to the "Zero Gravity Point" and visit the baobab forest. We drive further into the mountains to Jebel Samhan were we hike the Samhan trail with spectacular views. At the end of the day we set u camp on Jebel Samhan were we enjoy dinner and camp on the mountain.

 

Monday

After we've enjoyed breakfast in camp, we drive trough the mountains to Tayq Cave were we hike in the Cave area. We continue and drive to the Tawi Atayr Sinkhole were we hike down. Afterwards we drive to Wadi Darbat lake. We visit the lake area and have lunch. In the afternoon we visit the Wadi Darbat Rapids and afterwards the The Ruins of Khor Rori (Sumhuram). After visiting Taqah Castle, one of the most beautiful castles in Oman, we start driving to our camping place in a beautiful Wadi in the mountains. -- Dinner and camp in the mountains.

 

Tuesday

Today is waterfall day! We start with breakfast in camp and a visit to the Ayn Athum waterfalls. Afterwards we drive to Ayn Tabraq to visit the local waterfall. We will have lunch in this beautiful green landscape. After lunch we continue to the Ayn Hamran Waterfall area. Finally we will visit the Ayn Razat falls. After visiting Ay Razat we drive into the mountains to our camp in a mountain Forrest were we enjoy dinner and camp in the mountains.

 

Wednesday

After breakfast in the camp we drive through the amazing green landscape of the Dhofar mountains. After some time we leave the mountains towards Wadi Uyun. Here we have time for a swim and we will have our lunch. After lunch we return to the mountain area where we visit the An Nabi Ayub Tomb. Then we proceed to discover the Ayn Garziz park with its nice pools and good walking area. We leave the mountain area and cross Salalah city to the west coast. Here we drive towards the sea and have camp on the beach. -- Dinner and camp on the beach.

 

Thursday

In the morning, after breakfast in the camp, we leave our beach camp and continue to follow the coastal road. We enter Musail Beach and continue to Al Marneef Cave & Blow Holes for a visit. Of course we will also visit the local geyser. We follow the coastal road to Fazayah Beach again, where we will have lunch and enjoy a swim. After lunch we drive all the way to the village of Rakhut. The road to Rakhut has stunning views over the rough coastline. In Rakhut we will drive to a private beach where we have our camp. -- Dinner and camp on the beach.

 

Friday

Breakfast at camp -- We leave the beach and enter the Rakhut mountain area for an off-road trip back to the main road. Once back on the road we drive towards Salalah. At Shaat we leave the road for a drive along the rough coast line of Shaat which ens on a beautiful white sand beach where we will have lunch. After lunch we drive back to the main road and continue to drive back to Salalah. In Salalah we will visit the Al Balid Archaeological Site and the Museum of the land of Frankincense. From here we drive back to our hotel where we will check-in and stay for the night.

 

Saturday

After enjoying breakfast in Salalah hotel and check out we say goodbye to the group.

2 nights in hotel incl. breakfast, incl. transfers from and to airport.

 

4×4 Toyota Landcruiser with rooftent COUPLE or FAMILY, equipped with a walkie-talkie, compressor for tire inflation, tire pressure gauge and towing line.

 

Camping equipment, including sleeping bags, pillows, table, chairs, camping lights, mobile 8-liter shower and the necessary toilet accessories.

 

5 camp nights, 3 meals a day provided by our cooks, non-alcoholic beverages and experienced guides.

This is a 8-day trip: 2 hotel nights, 5 camp nights, 6 days off-road driving.

 

You fly in to Salalah on Saturday and leave the next Saturday as per your itinerary. Two hotel nights with breakfast in Salalah are included.

 

The expedition starts on Sunday morning from your hotel in Salalah and ends on Friday afternoon in the same hotel.

 

Through the duration of your trip, you will cover 828 kilometers in 6 days, on rocky terrain, deserts, beaches, wadis and steep unpaved mountain paths. The driving is possible regardless of experience, as our guide will help from years of experience driving off-road.

 

All cars are equipped with a solar 8-liter shower. You have to fill the shower with water yourself. Please be aware that the campsites are in the nature. There will be no toilets available, however we will provide toilet chairs. Toilet paper, wetties, tissues will be provided in the cars, however you can bring your own accessories.

 

There will be no soap, shampoo etc. Please bring your own. There is a shower tent available however most guests prefer to take the shower behind their car. Our recommendation is to shower in the evening when the water is still warm from the day. The mobile showers are filled up with water every day during the ride.

 

At the 5 camp-sites a cook will prepare all breakfast and dinners. Lunch will be provided during the trip. All camp-sites are in the nature without facilities for warm water and toilets. Guests are welcome to assist the cook; however, this is not required.

 

During the off-road trip non-alcoholic beverages, coffee and tea will be included and provided during breakfast, lunch and dinner. Alcoholic beverages can be purchased at the airport on arrival and carried on the trip.

We reserve the right to change the itinerary and the mode of transport/cancel the trip, according to weather or road conditions, or circumstances beyond our control.

 

For operating a 4×4 car, drivers must present a valid driver‘s license.

The minimum age for drivers this tour is 21 years.

The rate is per person and is based on 2 persons sharing a room

The duration of the tours may vary according to weather and road conditions.

Discount for children and/or teenagers does not apply to group bookings.

The route and camp sites could be changed during the trip when cars are delayed for example in the desert.
